Boarding & Hibernation Services for Tortoises in Hertfordshire
Welcome to Tortoise BnB!
At Tortoise BnB, we offer a home away from home boarding and hibernation service for your tortoises located on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border.
Our accommodations are designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for your beloved pet whilst you are away.
Whether you’re going on holiday, need temporary housing during a house move, or simply require a helping hand in caring for your tortoise, you can trust us to provide the highest standard of care.

We currently have a number of Hibernation spaces available for this Winter 2025. This is for tortoises that have AND haven't hibernated before. If you are interested please click here and fill out the enquiries form.
We also have spaces for our Pre- Hibernation vet checks on Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September held here at Tortoise BnB. For more information please use the enquiries form on the booking page.
Services
Boarding
Boarding is £9 per day for your first tortoise, and £6 per day for each additional tortoise - this includes drop off and pick up days. Short term and long term boarding available.
Included in the price:
Large, individual, indoor tortoise enclosure, each with their own heat and UV lamps.
Daily care for your tortoise including regular baths.
Time in our tortoise garden during summer months in an individual, escape-proof run with refuge.
All food - Weeds & flowers are grown at Tortoise BnB
Substrate & daily cleaning.
Hibernation
We provide specialised hibernation services for your tortoise. Our team ensure that they receive the proper care and conditions for a healthy hibernation.
Our Hibernation service costs £280 per tortoise and will include:
3 week wind down
6-14 week hibernation
4 day wake up
All tortoises coming to us for hibernation need a health check and any necessary worming, given by a vet at least one month before their arrival at Tortoise BnB.

Tortoise Care
Whilst your tortoise is with us at Tortoise BnB our main priority is for them to have a safe and comfortable stay. As tortoises are essentially solitary animals, we accommodate each tortoise in separate accommodation and adhere to strict bio security protocols.
Our approach at Tortoise BnB is to replicate a home away from home environment for your tortoise. We bathe each tortoise regularly and provide them with a variety of home grown weeds & flowers picked here at Tortoise BnB.

You are welcome to provide specific food for your tortoise but please, no pellets!

Drop off & Pick up Times
Mondays 9.30-10.30am & 6-7pm
Fridays 9.30-10.30am & 4-6pm
Drop off & Pick ups may be available outside of these times at an additional cost of £15. Please select this option on the booking form.
We do not take Sunday appointments or appointments on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day & Easter Sunday.
